The Post Graduate and Research Department of Computer Science and Computer Applications, D.G. Vaishnav College, recently organised a National Conference on Computing and Intelligence Systems at Arumbakkam. The conference was aimed at bringing together the researchers and experts in Computer Science and related fields to common platform to discuss and exchange their expertise and view for knowledge enhancement. The faculty from various parts of south India participated in the conference and presented their papers on various topics.

The conference was supported by Collar Solutions Private Limited, which involved in providing Awareness on Cyber Crime & IT Forensics in regions of Asia/Pacific and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) in the field of Law Enforcement with respect to cyber crime.

Regional Director, TN, Kerala and Pondy, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), K. Purushothaman, while inaugurating the session, asked the participants to look beyond the MNCs for new opportunities. He added that teachers and students needs to be innovative and should look beyond ‘Dot Net’ and ‘Java’.

He said that there are 600 registered companies under NASSCOM, but the graduates are looking only for top companies. He said that the industry doesn’t need graduates who write only coding alone, but also need to have innovative and consulting skills.

The Government is spending Rs.192 crore on e-governance and the academic institutions act as a supply chain for the industries. Mr. Purushothaman also released the Conference Proceedings and Dr. S. Narasimhan, Principal, D.G. Vaishnav College, received the first copy.

Mr. Narasimhan in his welcome address said that the theme of the conference is most appropriate now, when technology and resources are taking center-stage in all sections in all fields. Associate Professor and Organising Secretary S. Santhosh Baboo briefed about the seminar.

Head – Information Security, Collar Solutions, Harish Ramani, provided his expert advice on ‘Underwater wireless communication.’ CEO, Assymmetrix, Pamela Ramalingam, spoke about ‘Agile Methodologies,’ while C.P. Sumathi, Head, Department of Computer Science, S.D.N.B. Vaishnav College, Chennai and K. Nirmala, Associate Professor, Quaid-E-Milleth Government Arts College, K. Raajaram, Head – Telecom Vertical / Permanent Staffing Division, Future Focus Infotec, shared their knowledge with the participants.

At the valedictory session, President - Software and Systems Process Improvement Network (SPIN), Ramachandran distributed certificates to the participants. Head, P.G. Department of Computer Science & Applications and Convener, T. Santhanam proposed a vote of thanks.
