Representatives of various residents’ associations in Nanganallur met Mayor Saidai Duraiswamy at Ripon Buildings recently, demanding daily water supply.
Apart from that, the residents asked the government to introduce more mini buses connecting various parts of Nanganallur, link Pazhavanthangal subway with 5th Main Road, and harvest rainwater from abandoned quarries around Tirusulam hills.
They also demanded an auditorium in the locality.
Secretary of Lakshmi Nagar Civic Welfare Association, V. Rama Rao, said the Mayor promised to look into the needs of Nanganallur residents and said he would forward their petitions to the departments concerned for speedy action.
Replying to demands from Madipakkam residents for desilting and deepening of Adambakkam lake, the Mayor said work on the lake could be carried out in co-ordination with the Public Works Department.
The residents also made a presentation to the Mayor and Chennai Corporation officials on the ‘walkability survey’ conducted by Transparent Chennai and Traffic and Transportation Forum. Footpaths had to be created in all busy and congested roads in the neighbourhood, said Mr. Rao.
