To commemorate the 159th birth anniversary of Tamil Thatha U.V. Swaminatha Iyer, Nehru Children’s Cultural Association, Thiruvanmiyur, in association with Indian Overseas Bank organised a music festival at Vivekananda Hall, P.S. Higher Secondary School, Mylapore. The programme was compeered by S. Sruti, student of SASTRA University. Around 50 students from various schools and colleges participated in the music contest. B.G. Ramakrishnan, Senior Manager, IOB, Valmiki Nagar, was the chief guest and distributed certificates and prizes to winners. They were felicitated by M.R. Sugumaran, president, Nehru Children’s Cultural Association.
Thiagaraja Aradhana
The 166th year Aradhana of Saint Thiyagaraja, organised by Nehru Children’s Cultural Association, was celebrated at Thiruvaiyaru Government Music College. Students from various schools and colleges participated in the music contest. R. Gunasekaran, Deputy Director of Art and Culture, was the chief guest.
Mr. Sugumaran welcomed the gathering. P. Umamaheswari, Principal, Tamil Nadu Government Music College, Thiruvaiyaru presided over the function. Mythili Kannan and R. Neelaveni Amuthan were the judges for the competition.
