The police are on the look-out for four youngsters, allegedly from Malaysia, who are suspected of having murdered a 22-year-old tourist car driver. According to police, the car driver M.G.R (22) used to drive a vehicle belonging to Sridhar. He usually used to park his car on the Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus premises. Sridhar had a tie-up with a travel agent in Arumbakkam.
On December 24, four youngsters who claimed to be from Malaysia, wanted to book a car to Karaikal. “The agent contacted Sridhar and asked them to go to CMBT and take M.G.R’s car. Before this, he asked them to give a missed call from their number,” said a police source.
The four allegedly took the car at around 11 p.m. “The driver called Sridhar before starting and then from Tindivanam. However, Sridhar did not receive a call after that and attempts to contact M.G.R proved futile,” said the source.
After this, Sridhar went to Karaikal and searched for the address provided by the agent. But it was fake and he could not find the car too. Sridhar then lodged a police complaint. Two days ago, Sridhar received a call from someone in Ramanatham police jurisdiction in Cuddalore stating that there was a dead body similar to that of the description given of M.G.R.
“Sridhar went there along with family members of the deceased and identified the body. He has been stabbed in the neck. Though the body is decomposed, the police had taken a life-size photo of the body and preserved the skull,” said the source. The Ramanatham police believe they might have committed the murder to steal the car.
