Despite the presence of a bus stop with shelters, most Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses bypass the Chellammal Women’s College stop located on Anna Salai. Commuters waiting at the college stop located on Sardar Patel Road encounter the same problem.

At present, only a few route numbers, plying through arterial stretches, halt at these stops.

Commuters signalling the drivers to halt is a common sight.

S. Poornima, a senior citizen from East Tambaram, says, “Before boarding route numbers 5A, B51 or V 51, I make it a point to ask the conductor if bus would halt at the stop.”

Some commuters say that when they are travelling on the bus, they have to remind the conductors to halt at the stop. Instead of waiting at the college stop, some commuters go up to the Guindy Industrial Estate or Race Course or Little Mount.

The college stops were earlier located near and opposite SPIC.

The stops had to be relocated near the college to facilitate Metro Rail work.

When contacted, an MTC official promised the needful would be done, at the earliest.
