MTC bus damaged at Mint by Chennai students

A Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus (56D, Ennore – Vallalar Nagar) was damaged by a group of college students after they got into an argument with other commuters when they bus was travelling on the flyover in Mint in north Chennai on Tuesday.

Police said around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, a group of college students boarded the bus at the Maharani bus stop in Mint. As the students were making a ruckus, other commuters objected and soon both groups got into an argument. When things took a turn for the worse, the bus driver, T. Rajendran, stopped the bus on the flyover and asked the students to either stop shouting or disembark. The angry students broke the front and rear glass panels of the bus as well as some of its windows and fled. No one was injured. Based on a complaint by the driver, a case has been registered by the Washermenpet police.
