J.K. Ritheesh, MP representing Ramanathapuram, was arrested by the Central Crime Branch on Tuesday on charges of fraud in a property transaction.

According to CCB sources, on November 20, Rajasekar of Nungambakkam, in a complaint with the City Police Commissioner S. George said his father Murugesan was Managing Director of the Exim Rajathi India Ltd which is involved in diversified businesses . On the assurance of suspect Ritheesh alias Sivakumar, Murugesan signed an agreement with the former on January 1, 2009 to purchase plots at Senthamangalam and Papankuzhi in Sriperumpudur.

Murugesan purchased some plots from Ritheesh after paying an advance amount. He later found that there were some discrepancies in some of the documents. He informed Ritheesh who then agreed to payback Rs. 20 crore to Murugesan.

As Murugesan passed away shortly, Rajasekar approached Ritheesh for the payment, but was denied. Following constant efforts the MP once again signed an agreement on June 6, 2011 with Rajasekar and promised to pay over Rs.19 crore or give a plot for the sum.
