Motorcyclist fatally hit

A motorcyclist was fatally knocked down by a container truck on Monday night near the K.K. Nagar Regional Transport Office. The victim, C.Manoharan (26) of 13th Street, Ashok Nagar, was riding his motorcycle on 100 Feet Road near Ashok Pillar when a speeding truck hit him. He died on the spot. Guindy Traffic Investigation has registered a case.

One killed, four injured in accident

One person was killed and four others sustained injuries in an accident that took place on Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road near Padalam on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the accident took place at 2.30 p.m. near Padalam when a car, driven by Sahul Ameed (27) of Pallipadai village in Chidambaram taluk, Cuddalore district, overturned after hitting a road divider. Sahul Ameed died on the spot and four others - Baskaran (40), Ravi (39), Devika (34) and Karthik (25), all hailing from Kurumbanankudi village in Kizhvelur taluk, Nagapattinam district - sustained injuries.

They were rushed to Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital from where they were later referred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai. The occupants of the car were returning to their village after calling on their relative's family at Chennai, when the accident took place, police said.
