The Chennai Corporation will soon take up work to convert 1,296 interior tar roads into concrete roads.

The works are to be carried out at a total cost of Rs. 148.11 crore and would cover 212.07 km length of roads.

Residents, on whose roads works pertaining to TANGEDCO, telephone lines and Chennai Metrowater are to be taken up, have been asked to check whether their roads are on the list of roads that are to be converted to concrete ones. The list can be checked at their zonal or division offices. If their roads are to be converted to concrete, the residents have been asked to speed up any repair works that require road cuts, said a press release from the civic body.

Meanwhile, the social welfare minister P. Valarmathi inspected different wards in the Thousand Lights constituency. She was accompanied by Mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy and Chennai Corporation commissioner Vikram Kapur.

Residents of Trust Puram sought that a play ground in the area be cleaned and earth-filling made.
