An activist of People for Animals rescued two monkeys from two gypsies from the Marina Beach on Tuesday evening. A case was registered with the Marina police station.

Animal activist Ashwath was at Marina Beach when he found two gypsies walking with two monkeys near the Avvaiyar statue on Tuesday evening.

“They were using the monkeys for begging. I rescued them and lodged a complaint with the Marina police station,” said Mr. Ashwath.

The monkeys were later handed over to the Forest Department. “The forest officials will rehabilitate them and then release them in some forest area in Tiruvallur,” said Mr. Ashwath.
