The decomposed body of a 23-year-old woman, a software professional with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) at the SIPCOT IT Park in Siruseri, was found in a bush hundred metres from her office on Saturday morning. The victim went missing on the night of February 13.
After the post-mortem at Government General Hospital in Chengalpet revealed stab injuries in her stomach and abdomen, the police have registered a case of murder.
A native of Attur taluk in Salem and a graduate from the Salem College of Engineering and Technology, she was hired during campus recruitment.
She joined TCS in Siruseri last February. According to information shared in the social media by some TCS employees, She was last seen leaving office at 10.10 p.m. on February 13, which was recorded on a CCTV camera at the facility. According to police, she used to go home by office cab at 11 p.m. On February 13, she got permission and left an hour early, but never reached the rented home at Medavakkam, which she shared with two of her colleagues.
“The victim's roommates alerted the office and her father Balasubramanian, a drawing teacher with a Government Girls School in Attur, when she did not return home. Her mobile phone also was unreachable. Her father approached the Kelambakkam police station to help trace his daughter,” said an investigating officer.
The victim's father received the body following post-mortem.
