The Hassan police on Tuesday traced the Chennai-based techie who had gone missing in the Bisale forest on Monday. Police said he has contacted his father.

Srikant Balaji, an Infosys employee in Chennai, was a member of a trekking team from that city.

Ravi D Chennannavar, SP, told The Hindu that members of the trekking team had informed police that Mr. Balaji went missing in Bisale forest on Monday. "None of them came to our police station personally. This morning his parents reached Sakaleshpur and filed a missing complaint", he said.

Hassan police launched a search operation, along with the Forest Department and Fire and Emergency service officials, in the forest area.

Police detained the other 13 trekkers, who entered the forests without permission.
