Missing boy suspected kidnapped

May 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - CHENNAI:

CCTV footage of a woman carrying a toddler and leading a child by the arm at Chennai Central has raised suspicion that the four-year-old boy who went missing on Sunday could have been kidnapped.

Four-year-old Sridhar Murugan, who had come to Chennai for a vacation with his family, went missing at the Central railway station as his family was waiting to board a suburban train.

“We came across footage obtained at Central of a middle-aged woman dressed in a red sari and carrying a baby walking with Sridhar from platform number 14 at the station. Sridhar’s parents have identified the boy with the woman as their missing son,” said an investigating officer.

The woman vanished into the crowds with the boy and is suspected to have boarded a train to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh with or without him.

There is also information on a young boy spotted playing alone at the Gummidipoondi railway station later on Sunday and a probe is on to identify the child.
