Chennai Metrowater will organise open house meetings on Saturday at its offices across all 15 zones between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
This will give residents a chance to voice their grievances and also clarify their doubts about tax and charges. During the meetings held last month, 86 complaints were received and 82 complaints have been rectified so far, a press release said.
Metrowater has also asked residents to contact area engineers in their respective zones to avail of ‘dial for water’ service. At present, nearly 670 tanker trips are operated to provide water on payment.
The last digits in the phone numbers of the area engineers signify their respective zones. For example, the number of AE –I (Tiruvottiyur) is 8144930901 and AE–15 (Sholinganallur) is 8144930915.
This move is aimed to prevent residents from consuming poor quality drinking water supplied by the private sector. Consumers can also contact the helpline number 45674567, a Metrowater press release said.
