Metro line to airport by August

The Chennai Metro Rail stretch from Little Mount to airport, a distance of 9 km, is likely be open to public by August.

Sources said officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited ) met Minister for Industries M.C. Sampath soon after elections and apprised him of the progress in work at stations. “A date has been given in August for opening the next stretch. The track work was completed long back and the trains have been put through trials. The interior works in the stations have to be finished,” an official said. Though some sources associated with Chennai Metro Rail project say it is possible to complete the work in stations in two months, it is not clear if stations like Meenambakkam and St. Thomas Mount can be finished on time.
