A website to facilitate weddings for the disabled was launched in the city on Saturday by the Tamil Nadu Differently Abled Federation Charitable Trust (TNDFCT) and the State Forum for Rights of All Women with Disabilities (SFRAWD).

The website >www.tndfcmatri.in was inaugurated by V.K. Jeyakodi, State commissioner for the differently abled, who said the government gave preference to women when it came to distribution of motorised two-wheelers for persons with disabilities.

A press release said the website would come in handy for persons with disabilities who find it difficult to travel to attend swayamvarams organised by SFRAWD and Geetha Bhavan Trust.

In the past four years, a total of 168 couples have been brought together by the two organisations through special swayamvarams for the differently abled. The website will have details of over 600 persons who wish to get married.

The Malala Award 2013 was presented to 35 persons, including Prabha Sridevan, former judge of Madras High Court, and social worker Padma Venkatraman, for being supporters of the differently abled.
