With an overall pass percentage of 91.4, State-board students recorded a marginally higher pass percentage in Plus-Two this year. In 2015 and 2014, the pass percentage recorded in the State was 90.6.

Girls secured a pass percentage of 94.4, once again outshining the boys who scored 87.9. V. Aarthi and K.H. Jeshwanth of Sri Vidya Mandir Matric Higher Secondary School Uthangarai, Krishnagiri jointly secured the State first rank with 1,195 marks. G. Pavithra from Shree Niketan Matric Higher Secondary School, Tiruvallur secured the State second rank with 1,194 marks and V.S. Veanupreetha from SKV Higher Secondary School Namakkal was placed third with 1,193 marks.

There was, however, a drastic reduction in the number of centums, notably in physics which only had five centums compared with the 124 centums the previous year. Maths, too, saw just 3,361 centums against 9,710 in the 2015 board examinations. While the students of Class 12 had found the chemistry paper tricky, the subject had 1,703 centums. Erode district had the highest pass percentage with 96.92, followed by Perambalur and Virudhunagar districts. The three districts had also bagged top honours last year with the highest pass percentages.
