In the Tamil film industry, several films are unable to find a theatrical release on time as they are invariably caught in financial trouble. Actor Silambarasan, whose last release was almost three years ago, has been finding it hard to release his latest film, Vaalu , for many months now.
After it was announced that the film would release on July 17, Magic Rays, a film company, successfully obtained an injunction from the Madras High Court against the release. However, the case was cleared on Thursday. The actor tweeted that the issue had been sorted out and was looking forward to the release of the film. ““#Vaalu court case has been cleared today... Thanks to almighty [sic] :) official release date soon... Thanks for the prayers and love.”
Though the delay in the release of his films has frustrated Silambarasan, the actor also has some solid films in his bag.
While he reunites with Nayanthara in Idhu Namma Aalu , he is also doing Gautham Vasudev Menon’s next, which is touted to be a romantic flick. Apart from that, Silambarasan will also be seen in Selvaraghavan’s film, Khan . Films featuring actors Jayam Ravi, Vishal Krishna and others have also faced similar financial difficulties. Vaalu is likely to release on August 14.
Set for a grand comeback
Actor Charmi Kaur, who debuted with Silambarasan, will return to Tamil filmdom after nearly a decade with a horror flick.
She will be playing a lead role in the sequel of the thriller movie Mantra , which was a box-office hit and earned her the Nandi award for the best female actor in Telugu. After eight years, Mantra-2 , a sequel to the Telugu movie, is being made in both and Tamil and Telugu.
According to industry sources, the plot revolves around Charmi, who gets possessed by the spirit of her father and takes revenge on the family that usurped his property. Sunil Kashyap will compose music for the film and S.V. Sathish will direct the movie.
