The bodies of a young man and woman were found at a construction site in Padappam near Muthiyalpet on Saturday.

According to police, Lokesh Kumar (24), who was a fireman at the Oragadam Fire Station, and Sabitha (20) daughter of Thanigai Arasu, who worked at the Muthiyalpet Fair Price Shop, were found dead at around noon inside a semi-constructed house that belonged Thangavel, Lokesh’s father, in Selliyamman Nagar.

The bodies were found hanging from a fan. It is believed that the duo used a length of electrical cable, to make a noose, and used both ends of the same cable. The families of both took their bodies away, without informing the Walajabad police.

The police however, found out about the incident around 2 p.m., seized the bodies and sent them to the government hospital. A probe revealed that the two, who were from the same community and lived on the same street, had fallen in love. Further investigations are on, police said.
