A 59-year old man was run over by a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus in Eekaduthangal on Sunday morning.

According to the police, Ramadoss (59) worked as a security personnel in a private company in Guindy Industrial Estate. On Sunday, around 5.45 a.m, he was crossing the 100-feet road to go to a tea shop. An SETC bus from Tiruchy, headed towards Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), was travelling on the road. As Ramadoss was passing near a metro rail pillar, the driver did not see him.

“Ramadoss saw the bus and tried to run back. But he was hit by the bus bumper. He sustained head injuries and died on the spot,” said a police officer.

The bus driver, Kumar (42) was arrested and later released on bail.
