A conservancy worker of Tambaram Municipality was found dead on Tuesday evening, five days after he went missing.

Haroon (38) was reported missing from his home in West Tambaram on Friday, a day ahead of Deepavali.

On Tuesday evening, a huge crowd had gathered around the vast open space between the National Institute of Siddha and the Government Hospital for Thoracic Medicine. Enquiries revealed that the body of an unidentified male had been spotted there.

Tambaram police, who investigated, established that Haroon had consumed alcohol with some his relatives, including Senthil. Police interrogated Senthil on Tuesday morning and established that he had gotten into a quarrel with the victim, assaulted and killed him and then buried him in the vacant plot of land.
