Man knocked down in Chennai by CM’s convoy

A 56-year-old man was allegedly knocked down by the Chief Minister’s convoy on Kamarajar Salai on Saturday evening.

The police said around 5.30 p.m., the victim, Karmegam, was attempting to cross the road near the PWD building along with a few others. However, they were intercepted by police personnel as the convoy was passing through after leaving University of Madras where the CM took part in the convocation ceremony. Karmegam was caught in the melee, came in the path of one of the convoy vehicles and was knocked down. He suffered a broken pelvic bone and knee, and collapsed. He was rushed to Apollo Hospitals on Greams Road and his condition is stable, the police said.
