A 30-year-old man died when a speeding lorry rammed into a State government bus on the Chengalpattu Bypass of Grand Southern Trunk Road in the early hours on Wednesday.

Chengalpattu Taluk police said Anthony Arokiaraj, working at a mobile phone factory in Sriperumbudur, was a resident of Kandigai village in Uthiramerur, was travelling on the in a State government bus. towards Puducherry. with a group of friends. The bus was on the Chengalpattu Bypass of Grand Southern Trunk Road, when around 1.30 a.m. on Wednesday, a lorry rammed into it. Arokiaraj, the bus conductor Balamurugan of Tindivanam and four others were injured and rushed to a hospital, the Government General Hospital in Chengalpattu, where Arokiaraj died.

 The others were out of danger and the lorry driver fled from the spot, police added.
