A 32-year-old man was allegedly murdered and his body thrown on a road in Egmore from an autorickshaw on Thursday evening.

According to the Egmore police, the deceased, Ramesh alias ‘Mittai’ Ramesh, was a load autorickshaw driver working at a wastepaper shop in Pudupet.

An alcoholic, Ramesh had taken leave from work on Thursday for a wedding in the family which was scheduled to be held in Royapuram.

The police said, around 7.30 p.m., passersby, outside the police quarters on Langs Garden Road, spotted some men throwing out a man’s body from a moving autorickshaw, which then sped away. The body, later identified to be that of Ramesh, had severe head injuries suspected to have caused death.

Egmore police personnel reached the spot after passersby alerted the police control room. The team carried out a preliminary probe and a hunt is on for the killers, the police said.

Egmore police have registered a case and are investigating.
