Man held for stealing ATM card

The police have detained a man who stole an ATM card from the house of a Judge in Egmore last week. The accused, identified as Balaji, worked in the Judge’s quarters near Egmore. He allegedly stole the ATM card from the residence of R. Dakshinamoorthy, addit-ional chief metropolitan magistrate, economic offences-I, last Wednesday when he was out of town. When Balaji withdrew Rs. 40,000 using the card, the Judge received an alert on his mobile phone, following which he blocked the card. A police complaint was lodged and Balaji was nabbed with the help of CCTV footage from the ATM kiosk.
