Man held for robbing temple priest

A temple priest was reportedly abducted at knifepoint by a disabled person on a two-wheeler and robbed of his gold chain and ring in Tiruvottiyur.

The victim Nagaraj, 59, a resident of Kumaran Nagar, is a priest at the Sri Thigaraja Swami Temple, Tiruvottiyur.

He was returning home from the Kaladipet market when a disabled man requested him to accompany him for some advice on a ritual. The man then took Nagaraj to an isolated location where he threatened him with a knife and stole his gold chain weighing five-sovereigns and ring. He was taking Nagaraj back when he jumped off the bike in an attempt to escape and sustained injuries. The police arrested Babu, alias ‘Pulsar’ Babu in connection with the case.
