An employee of Annamalai University was arrested on Thursday by the Abhiramapuram police for murdering his brother.

S. Rajendra, 35, was an office assistant at Annamalai University, Chidambaram. He was on leave for the past 20 days and was staying at his brother Bulendra’s house on Kutti Gramani Street, Raja Annamalaipuram.

On Wednesday night, another brother, Venkataramana, 31, who also works at Annamalai University, joined them.

While they were drinking, Rajendra reportedly sent Venkataramana a picture of himself with the latter’s wife. A furious Venkataramana whipped out a knife and stabbed Rajendra to death.

The Abhiramapuram police recovered the murder weapon.
