Man held for murder in Chennai

A construction worker was arrested for murdering a man he suspected to be his wife’s lover, in Maduravoyal on Saturday.

According to the police, Sakthivel (33), a construction worker, and his wife Bhuvaneshwari (25), residents of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar on Ramadas Road in Alapakkam, quarrelled frequently. The couple has three children.

“On Saturday, after another round of arguments, Sakthivel left the house around 8 p.m.,” a police officer said.

When Sakthivel returned home post midnight, he found his wife interacting with another man. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a knife and stabbed the man in the stomach.

The man, identified as Satish, of Nerkundram, died on the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. Sakthivel was remanded to custody.
