A man who faked the kidnapping of his two sons was arrested on Friday. V. Kirankumar (39) reportedly faked the kidnapping to cope with his financial problems. His friends, posing as school van drivers, allegedly faked the kidnapping at Ambattur on Thursday morning.

K. Vikas, 11, and his younger brother K. Jaideep, 8, were reportedly waiting for the van when two men arrived in a car and sped away with them. After Kirankumar claimed that he had received a call demanding a ransom of Rs.30 lakh, the family members informed the police. Once the police discovered the kidnapping to be fake, Kirankumar dropped the children at Red Hills and fled. Police rescued the children and arrested Asif Ansari and Rabi, who had assisted Kirankumar. Teams have been formed to nab Rexin, who was also involved.
