The police on Thursday arrested Bhuvanesh, the man alleged to have been in a relationship with 26-year old Anjali Das who jumped to her death from Gemini Flyover on Wednesday.

According to sources, during interrogation he told the police that had been in love with the woman for the past few months. “He wanted to marry her. But recently he came to know she was also in another relationship. So he quarrelled with her and even slapped her,” said a senior police officer.

On Wednesday evening, she had asked to meet him immediately. “But he was busy with work and could not go out to meet her,” said a source at the Teynampet police station. After this, the woman is suspected to have jumped from the flyover.

“Bhuvanesh has been booked for abetting suicide, said the officer.

The police said till a few months ago, there had been policemen deployed on the flyover.

“Had they been there, the woman would not have been able to pace up and down the flyover. Though the traffic policemen asked her to move away from the edge, she refused,” said the police officer.
