A 45-year old employee of a textile shop died after he was bitten by a venomous snake on Wednesday night in West Tambaram.

Police said Mohammed Ibrahim of CTO Colony in Lakshmipuram, West Tambaram, was returning home around 11 p.m. when he accidentally stepped on the snake.

Bitten thrice

The reptile bit him three times even before he could realise his mistake. Bearing the pain, he rushed to the first floor of the building and informed his wife about this incident. With the help of neighbours, he was rushed to the Tambaram Taluk Government Hospital in Chromepet for treatment, where the doctors pronounced him ‘dead on arrival,’ Tambaram police added.
