A construction worker who was digging a rainwater harvesting channel in Abiramapuram died after a compound wall adjoining the trench collapsed on Monday morning. According to police, Velankanni (45) was removing some debris when the compound wall collapsed. He was crushed under the rubble and died on the spot.
