The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the city police on Saturday arrested a man who allegedly made fake documents and attempted to purchase electronic goods from dealers in the city.
CCB sources said the suspect, Krishnamoorthy (30), a native of Andhra Pradesh and a B.Com graduate, had made fake documents including LPG cylinder subscription documents. Using them as proof of residence, he had bought electronic goods on loan.
Krishnamoorthy had asked for the products to be delivered at an address in Thoraipakkam. Shop personnel who brought the products to Thoraipakkam, suspected foul play when they realised it was not a place of residence.
An enquiry revealed that Krishnamoorthy had given the address of a property belonging to an acquaintance and planned to flee with the goods, sources added.
A complaint was lodged at the office of the Commissioner of Police by a representative of the finance firm from which Krishnamoorthy had taken the loan.
