Kotturpuram police on Sunday arrested a 36-year-old man who sent hoax bomb threat letters to Anna University and the secretariat building under construction here.

Police sources said Senthil of Coimbatore sent the letters by courier in the name of his relative from Medavakkam who has been missing since 1985. He mentioned the name of the relative’s wife in the postal cover in order to trap her with the police.

A special team investigating the case traced the letters to a courier service in Coimbatore and arrested Senthil using the address he had furnished in the booking receipt, sources said. He confessed to have committed the crime to create panic and get the woman arrested, sources added.
