April 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - CHENNAI:

In a bid to create societal change and also to create awareness on 100 per cent voter registration during the upcoming election, Makkal Padhai, a voluntary organisation inspired by IAS officer U. Sagayam, was launched here on Friday.

Launching it, Mr. Sagayam said he was concerned about the growing number of youths asking him to launch a party and become Chief Minister. Requesting the youth to refrain from cult worship, he said the objective behind the voluntary organisation was sensitising the youth to social causes and building a corruption-free society.

Other speakers, included director Thangar Bachan, actor Kitty and Exnora International Founder M.B. Nirmal. Makkal Padhai’s coordinator Maran and S. Nagalswamy, one of the trustees, spoke.
