Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday called upon the media to extend cooperation to the State government in making the World Classical Tamil Conference a grand success.
Addressing editors and proprietors at a lunch hosted by N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu and vice-chairman of the publicity committee, the Deputy Chief Minister explained the importance of the Conference.
He said, he originally wanted to be with Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi throughout the day in view of the Pennagaram by-election but the Chief Minister advised him to attend the lunch as “the conference is more important than any by-election.”
Those who spoke on the occasion emphasised that youth should be sensitised more on the greatness of Tamil language and culture. They commended the Tamil daily ‘Dinamani' for bringing out a column devoted to the conference.
