The following programmes will be organised in the city on Wednesday as part of ‘Madras Week'.
At the Department of Indian Music, Room No.32, University of Madras, historian S.Muthiah tells the ‘Madras University Story' at 11 a.m., Sriram V. speaks on ‘Life and times of C.Sarawathi Bai' at 11.30 a.m., and Swarnamalya Ganesh speaks on ‘If you don't have much, a little would do… but only if you have the money – Madras Presidency' at noon.
The Roja Muthiah Research Library, Taramani, organises a lecture on ‘Ariya avanankal: patippu – patippaciriyan-patippakam' by A.Sathish, senior research fellow at the International Institute of Tamil Studies, at 5 p.m.
Architect and historian George J.Jeyaraj delivers an illustrated talk on ‘A few selected works of British architects in colonial Madras', at the Measi Academy of Architecture, New College campus, Royapettah, at 3 p.m.
C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre releases the results of its survey of ‘Air, water, and noise levels in Chennai city' at Eldams Road at 11 a.m. A Chennai Heritage lecture by Mohan V. Raman on ‘Women film directors of Madras' will be organised at Hotel Savera at 6.30 p.m.
A guided tour of DakshinaChitra, Muttukadu, led by Chitra Madhavan begins at 10.30 a.m.
The Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, Pallikaranai, organises the following programmes: A heritage site visit of the 1,000-year-old temple at Madambakkam commencing at 9 a.m. from the college, a photo exhibition between 9.30 a.m. and 4 p.m., an inter-collegiate drawing competition, and a quiz and oratorical contest for school children, both starting at 10 a.m.
