K. Madhavan, the husband of J. Deepa who is the niece of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, on Monday submitted a plea before Justice Arumughaswamy Commission that is probing the death of the former AIADMK leader. He has raised 18 questions in his affidavit and sought answers for them.

“While it was stated that Jayalalithaa died on December 5, 2016 and the funeral was held the following day. When she was going to be buried only a day after, what is the need for embalming?” he asked. He also raised queries about the withdrawal of personal security guards provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs and also about the CCTV cameras installed in the hospital premises where the late CM was undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, sources in the Commission said that a witness box was set up in its office in the Ezhilagam campus here, where individuals have been summoned to appear before the retired High Court judge.

Later in the day, Ms. Deepa’s advocate C. Subramani met the Chief Secretary in the Secretariat in connection with the plea over the residence of Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence.
