The Chennai Corporation will put in place the Civic Body Election Management Plan for local body elections shortly.

The work on preparation of an election management plan has started and the draft will be available soon on the Chennai Corporation website, said a senior official of the civic body.

Voters in the city would be able to gain access to all information pertaining to elections on the civic body's website, where the plan would be available. Information about wards, candidates, polling booths and officials' contact numbers could be accessed by the public.

As the notification for the elections is likely to be made soon, the State Election Commission has asked the civic body to start preparations of electoral rolls.

Over 99 per cent of voters in the city would have to go to the same polling booths where they had cast the vote for the Assembly elections 2011, said the official. The preparation of the rolls and the identification of polling booths are being done in such a way that voters do not face much difficulty in voting during the local body elections, the official added.
