Local AIADMK functionary murdered in Korukkupettai

A local AIADMK functionary was stabbed to death by a four-member gang on Eighth Street in Jeeva Nagar, Korukupettai, on Thursday evening.

The police said S. Baskaran (59), AIADMK secretary of the 47th ward of the Chennai Corporation, was in office around 8 p.m. when a four-member gang came in an autorickshaw, stabbed Baskaran, and quickly left. Baskaran was alone at the time of the incident.

Hearing his pleas for help, passersby rushed in to find him severely injured in the chest and head. They took him to Stanley Government Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’. The police are on the lookout for Murugan who is believed to have led the gang.
