Left-wing extremism under control: Minister

Frequent combing operations, effective intelligence system and formation of Naxalite Special Duty Wing in 10 border districts have effectively controlled the activities of Left wing extremism, Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam said in his budget speech.

Observing that the Chief Minister was “known for her resolve to preserve public order and maintain communal amity through timely and firm action,” the Minister said caste and communal tensions were being handled by the police with tact and requisite force.

He added that Rs. 6,102.95 crore has been allocated for the police department in the revised estimates.
