Latha Rajinikanth rejects charges

March 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - CHENNAI:

Latha Rajinikanth has slapped a legal notice on Ad Bureau and Abhirchand Nahar, denying the charges they had made against her during a press conference, recently. She has charged that they have unnecessarily dragged her into a dispute with Mediaone Global Entertainment.

In a notice served to both, she has demanded that the statements (made at the press conference) against her be retracted immediately, and has threatened to sue them for defamation.  In a statement released to the media, she denied the correctness of each of the charges levelled against her, and said they had damaged her reputation in the eyes of the public. Ad Bureau, even while providing the loan of Rs. 10 crore to Mediaone Global Entertainment (a commissioning producer of the film Kochadaiiyaan ), had deducted Rs. 1.2 crore at source as their profit, she said.

Further, a sum of Rs. 2.4 crore had been paid to Ad Bureau on the promise that they would lend another Rs. 20 crore. But the loan did not materialise. Another sum of Rs. 5.6 crore was paid to Ad Bureau against the loan availed, she claimed.

In addition, the statement claimed, Mediaone had recently made a complaint to the city police commissioner against Ad Bureau, under the Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, 2003.
