March 04, 2012 02:12 am | Updated November 16, 2021 11:28 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Chennai police on Saturday introduced a ‘tenant information form,' as part of the enumeration process of hundreds of tenants residing in the city.

The forms are available at all police stations and can be downloaded soon from the Tamil Nadu Police website.

Elaborating on the initiative, Commissioner of Police J. K. Tripathy said landlords planning to rent out their houses can collect the form from any police station and should hand it over to the police with information about the tenant, including his / her photograph and photocopy of a valid ID card.

“We will keep a database on the information received and if required we will verify the information furnished,” Mr. Tripathy added.

Irrespective of whether the tenant is a local or from out of the State, they should provide details of their permanent address, office address with job description and the address of his/her previous residence.
