Amid the huge wave of excitement pulsing through the underground stations, commuters on the Metro were a bit disappointed as they could not use their mobiles. Many were taken aback at the loss of connectivity. Some even got restless and were impatient to get off the train.

M. Karthi, a cab driver, said, “I felt let down as soon as I realised there was no connectivity. In case of an emergency, we need to be in touch. What will we do?” P.K. Arumugham, a resident of Thirumangalam and a regular commuter, said, “It will be difficult if we have to face this every day,” he said.

Officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said, they plan to install mobile transmitters in the underground stations in two months.
