Two weeks after Ripon Buildings ordered its zonal offices to take over conservancy work in four wards from the private conservancy operator Ramky Enviro Engineers, the zonal offices of Kodambakkam and Adyar have reportedly been unable to find conservancy labourers on contract. The deadline for taking over conservancy operations was over four days ago.
The civic body had planned to take over conservancy work in ward nos.127 and128 in Kodambakam zone and ward nos.170 and174 in the Adyar zone two weeks ago. The Corporation has already taken over division no. 110 and no. 112 .
The take over of conservancy operations in Kodambakam and Adyar zones was expected to have an impact on many localities near Poonamallee High Road, Padavattamman Koil Street, Kaliamman Koil Street, Gangaiamman Koil Street, Nerkundram Road, Kamarajar Salai, Arcot Road, Rajamannar Salai, Anna Main Road, Anna Salai, Sardar Patel Road and Gandhi Mandapam Road.
The private conservancy operator has received the notice for alteration of its micro plan for conservancy in the three privatised zones.
The change of the micro plan is likely to be finalised in 15 days.
