Kushboo not in fray

April 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:57 am IST - CHENNAI:

Ending weeks of speculation, the Congress on Friday released its final list of candidates. Actor and national spokesperson Kushboo will not contest the elections with the Mylapore constituency, which she was expected to bag, being allotted to former Deputy Mayor ‘Karate’ R. Thiyagarajan.

The list of eight candidates included M.K. Vishnu Prasad, the son of former TNCC president M. Krishnaswamy, for Cheyyar; Nasey R. Rajesh, son of senior leader Nasey Ramachandran, for Maduravoyal; K. Selvaperunthagai, the TNCC Scheduled Caste wing leader, for Sriperumbudur; and former MLA Rani Venkatesan for Srivaikuntam.

The nomination of Sreeraj Chokkar, son of former MLA R. Chokkar, for Sivakasi was a surprise since he was a new entrant into the party.
