The new campus of Kids Central, at Olympia Panache, a gated community in Navalur, was opened on Friday.
Built on 3.62 acres, the school has specific purpose-built art areas for dance, music, and even a pottery room that looks like a design lab, all organised around an open circle under a dome.
KC High founder-director Valli Subbiah said that Kids Central was a Cambridge International School, providing primary and secondary education to close to 430 students with 80 teachers in classes from pre-KG to Class 10 at present.
“We are taking steps to upgrade to Classes 11 and 12. Special care will be taken to provide safe transportation for children commuting from the city. Also, school timings will be changed to non-peak traffic hours. The new campus can accommodate as many as 1,200 students.”
School Head Mick Purcell said, “The school is designed for fluidity and movement, encouraging kids to move in and out of classrooms. The purpose was also to deconstruct the conventional model of classrooms — as places where children sit in rows and listen to the teacher — and create more organic spaces.” The curriculum would facilitate a natural progression in learning, he added.
