The Kendriya Vidyalaya schools declared results for all classes, excepting classes X and XII, on Thursday.
N.R. Murali, deputy commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Chennai region, said, up to class VIII, all students had passed, with the pass percentage applying only to class IX and XI. “We are in the process of consolidating the results for the region,” he said.
There are a total of 43 Kendriya Vidyalayas across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, other than the KV slated to open at the campus of the Central University of Tamil Nadu in Thiruvarur soon, he said.
Common question papers are set at the regional level, and evaluation is done by individual schools based on a common marking scheme.
Some KVs in the city said class XI were equally challenging for students and teachers, with the transition from Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation assessment to the conventional marking scheme, where students are expected to learn the entire syllabus for the annual examination.
Sources said students find mathematics, physics, chemistry and economics harder to cope up with.
A KV principal, whose school has recorded 100 per cent results in class XI, said the students who had written the exam were able to cope up better than the previous batch.
Another principal of a KV where two of the 56 Class XI students would be taking the supplementary examination, said students find it difficult to cope with the enormity of the syllabus.
They also noted that these challenges were not unique to the Kendriya Vidyalayas.
