Bharath University organised the third annual Shri Swamikannu Inter-college Men’s Volleyball Tournament on September 3 and 4. Students from various colleges took part in the tournament, which was inaugurated by Mukesh Lal, captain of the Indian Railway Volley Ball team. The preliminary stage consisted of nine matches, out of which four teams were shortlisted for the semi-finals. In the finals, KCG College of Technology beat the hosts in two straight sets. L. lakshmi Narayanan, Chancellor, Bharath University, and K.P. Thooyamani, Vice-Chancellor, were present.
New course
The university has introduced a graduate programme in aeronautical engineering from the current academic year. The new course is a result of industry demand for manpower with strong experimental and computational background for various sectors. The university has designed its curriculum to include various requirements that will help students to be immediately employable after completion of their education.
The redesigned course will offer students insights into aerodynamics, aircraft structure, composite materials, computational fluid mechanics, propulsion, avionics and software experience such as CFD, modeling and FEM. Students will have hands on exposure to popular softwares used in by the industry making them employable straight out of college. Admissions to the aeronautics course for 2012 batch are open.
