April 30, 2013 02:40 am | Updated 10:00 am IST - CHENNAI:

In a complaint filed with the city police commissioner on Monday, M.K. Muthu, the eldest son of DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, and his wife J. Sivagamisundarai said that his son and family members had been threatening them.

The 65-year-old Sivagamisundari, who is the daughter of the well-known playback singer, Chidrabaram S. Jayaraman, said that over the past few months, their son, M.K.M. Arivunidhi, had been demanding money and property that belonged to the couple. She said that she was filing the complaint on behalf of her husband who had been unwell in recent times.

She said that her son, along with his wife A. Poongodi and his mother-in-law, had threatened to kill them if they did not hand over all their property and savings. She said that in the complaint, she had urged the police commissioner to provide security for them and protect them from their son and his family members.

“A few years ago, our son chased away us from our house in Gopalapuram. He has now rented it out while we stay in a rented, dingy house in Kanathur. This continuous mental torture by our son has been unbearable and due to this, our health also deteriorated,” said Ms. Sivagamisundari in her complaint.
